SICVE-SNLG criteria and carotid stenosis risk profile

Evaluation of carotid stenosis with the criteria of the SICVE-SNLG guidelines for symptomatic and asymptomatic stenosis and an indicative estimate of the risk of stroke, based on cohort data and not valid as an individual prediction.

1. Evento neurologico omolaterale alla carotide
The guideline considers stenosis symptomatic if the last significant cerebral or retinal ischemic event occurred within 3 months.
It serves to contextualize the timing and criteria of 50–69% stenosis.
Quadro neurologico e neuroimmagini
In case of severe acute stroke, extensive lesion or hemorrhagic transformation, revascularization is not recommended in the acute phase according to the guideline.
Enter the NASCET grade. If the report uses ECST, convert it first.
Factors that modify the indication
For asymptomatic stenosis, risk factors are considered despite optimal medical therapy.

How to read the result

The tool applies the SICVE-SNLG (2021) recommendations and supports an indicative risk estimate obtained from literature cohorts, as in the reference studies. The estimate is not a validated score nor an individual prediction: the actual risk depends on clinical characteristics, imaging, therapy and observation period.
